Independent Studies:
Flexible Christian Education

Your home. Our partnership. Their future.

As a parent, you care deeply about what your child learns, how they grow, and who is guiding them. You want a strong education and family life. You want your child to be safe, challenged, and surrounded by people who share your faith.

Independent Studies is a flexible Christian education that allows your child the freedom of learning from home, but with the support, structure, and spiritual focus of a trusted Christian school.

What Sets Independent Studies Apart

We Walk With You

You’ll never feel like you have to figure this out alone. We pair every family with a kind, experienced Academic Mentor who meets with you monthly, answers questions, and helps guide you through the school year.

We Provide the Tools

You will be provided with high-quality Christian curriculum and support materials.

Your Child Stays Connected

Even while learning from home, your child is still fully enrolled at MCS. That means access to events, sports, field trips, and everything that makes school life meaningful.

Designed for Grades K–12

Elementary (K–6)

Students in grades K–6 receive curriculum designed to build strong academic foundations and a love for learning. Parents receive guidance and support from an Academic Mentor. Students participate in enrichment classes, present a Christmas program with their IS classmates, and have the opportunity to join in athletic teams and other on-campus extracurricular activities.

Secondary (7–12)

Older students follow the Credit Flex Program with a clear academic pathway that meets Ohio graduation requirements, including credits, seals, and testing. Students will take 1-3 classes on campus every day, a weekly class, or a combination of both to satisfy MCS requirements. The flexible schedule for students and record-keeping support for parents help families stay focused on their student’s future while maintaining the freedom of learning at home.

What Independent Studies Gives Your Family

Support

You will feel seen and encouraged

More than just check-ins, our mentors provide steady encouragement and wisdom through every season. They help you navigate challenges, adjust when needed, and remind you that you are not alone in this. We care for the whole family, not just the student.

Freedom with a clear path forward

Parents often worry if they are doing enough or doing it right. That is why we offer proven curriculum and practical help so you can teach with peace of mind. You are still the leader at home but you will never have to guess the next step.

Structure

Belonging

Your child stays connected

This is more than school. It is a Christ-centered community. Whether through athletics, academics, events, or a simple phone call from your Academic Mentor or Parent Ambassador, you and your child stay connected. Your family will be known here, not just enrolled.

Independent Studies Director

Julie Hupp

For the past five years, I have had the privilege of serving as the Director of Independent Studies. In this role, I oversee each student’s academic progress and ensure that families have the support and resources they need to thrive as home educators.

I am a pastor’s wife and a proud mother of three successful children who were all educated through Independent Studies. My personal and professional experiences have deepened my passion for empowering families to create meaningful, effective, and faith centered learning experiences at home.
